Credit-weighted average with letter grades and percentages

The grade calculator multiplies each course grade by its credits and divides by the total credits to give your weighted average. Enter percentages, or pick a letter scale: US GPA 4.0 (A to F), Turkish 4.0 (AA to FF), and numeric scales for Germany (1–6), Spain (0–10) and France (0–20). Add as many courses as you like and see the simple average and total credits too. Your courses are saved on your device so they are still there when you come back. Ideal for semester GPA, cumulative GPA and checking what you need on remaining courses.

  • A 4.0 · A- 3.7 · B+ 3.3 · B 3.0 · B- 2.7
  • C+ 2.3 · C 2.0 · C- 1.7 · D+ 1.3 · D 1.0 · F 0

Formula and example

  • Average = Σ(grade × credits) ÷ Σ credits
  • Math B (4 credits), Physics C (3 credits), History A (2 credits)
  • (12 + 6 + 8) ÷ 9 = 2.89 GPA
  • Simple average of the points would be (3 + 2 + 4) ÷ 3 = 3.0

Frequently Asked Questions

How is a weighted grade average calculated?

Multiply each grade by its credits, add the products and divide by the total credits. Courses with more credits pull the average more.

How do I calculate my GPA?

Convert each letter to grade points (A = 4.0, B = 3.0, C = 2.0, D = 1.0, F = 0), weight them by credits and average. Choose the GPA 4.0 scale and pick the letters for each course.

What is the difference between semester and cumulative GPA?

Semester GPA covers one term's courses; cumulative GPA covers all terms so far. Enter all your courses for the cumulative figure.

Can I use hours instead of credits?

Yes. The weight column accepts credits, ECTS points or weekly hours; the formula is the same.

What grade do I need to reach a target average?

Enter your current courses, then add a row with trial grades for the remaining course; the average updates instantly as you change it.
