Measure your WPM and accuracy in 15 seconds to 2 minutes

Choose a duration, then type the highlighted word and press space to move to the next one. The timer starts with your first keystroke, the current word turns red as soon as you make a mistake, and your speed updates live. At the end you get your net speed in words per minute (WPM), accuracy, characters per minute, correct and wrong words and keystrokes, plus a rating and your personal best for that duration. Words are drawn at random from common vocabulary, and you can practice in English, Spanish, German, French or Turkish. The test works with a phone keyboard as well; copy-paste is disabled to keep results honest.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is WPM calculated?

One “word” is standardized as 5 characters, including spaces. Net WPM = correctly typed characters ÷ 5 ÷ minutes. Only correctly typed words count, so mistakes lower your speed.

What is a good typing speed?

The average person types about 40 WPM. 50–70 WPM is fast, and professional typists usually exceed 70–80 WPM with over 95% accuracy.

How is accuracy calculated?

Each typed word is compared with the target letter by letter. Accuracy = correct keystrokes ÷ all keystrokes (including the space after each word).

Which test length should I choose?

One minute is the standard. 15–30 seconds are good for warming up; 2 minutes shows how well you keep your speed and accuracy.

Can I take the test on my phone?

Yes. Tap the input field and type with your on-screen keyboard; pressing space moves to the next word. Turn off autocorrect if it changes your words.

How can I improve my typing speed?

Learn touch typing with all ten fingers, keep your eyes on the screen, focus on accuracy and practice a little every day. Speed improves naturally once your fingers know the keys.
