Free Secure Password Generator
Strong, random passwords that stay on your device
Most passwords exposed in data breaches fall for two reasons: they are too short, and they are reused across accounts. This tool generates passwords that fix both in seconds. Pick a length, toggle uppercase, lowercase, digits and symbols — the password is created entirely on your device using the browser's cryptographically secure random generator (crypto.getRandomValues). Nothing is sent to any server, and no one — including us — can see what was generated. The strength meter shows instantly how resilient your choice is, and the "exclude ambiguous characters" option avoids l/1/I and O/0 mix-ups. The table below summarizes strong-password rules and how dramatically length changes cracking time.

Password Security Guide
Strong password rules
- Use at least 12, ideally 16+ characters
- Combine all 4 character types (upper, lower, digits, symbols)
- Generate a DIFFERENT password for every account
- Avoid personal info (birthdays, names) and dictionary words
- Store passwords in a password manager
Estimated cracking times (modern hardware)
- 8 digits only: a few seconds
- 8 mixed characters: a few hours
- 12 mixed characters: centuries
- 16 mixed characters: practically uncrackable
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this generator actually secure?
Yes. Passwords are created entirely on your device with the browser's cryptographically secure generator (crypto.getRandomValues). No password is ever sent to a server, stored, or visible to us — you can verify this in the page source.
How long should my password be?
The current standard is at least 12 characters; for critical accounts (email, banking) 16 is recommended. Length matters even more than complexity: every extra character multiplies the cracking time.
How am I supposed to remember passwords this complex?
Don't — use a password manager. You memorize one master password, and the manager stores and autofills the rest. Built-in browser password vaults are a fine starting point.
How often should I change my password?
Modern security guidance no longer recommends forced regular changes; a strong, unique password doesn't need replacing unless a breach is suspected. If a service you use is breached, change that password immediately.
Why is reusing one password across accounts risky?
When one site leaks, attackers automatically try the same email/password pair on every other popular site (credential stuffing). A single leak opens the door to all your accounts.
What does "exclude ambiguous characters" do?
It leaves out look-alike characters such as l (lowercase L), 1, I, O and 0. That prevents confusion when you have to type the password by hand or read it aloud, without meaningfully reducing security.
