Online Minesweeper: The Classic Logic Puzzle

Clear every safe square without setting off a mine, using the numbers as your clues.

Minesweeper is a single-player logic puzzle where a grid hides a fixed number of mines. When you reveal a safe square it shows a number: how many mines touch that square. Using those numbers you deduce where the mines are, flag them, and keep clearing the rest. Your very first click is always safe and opens up an area to get you started, so no game is ever lost on the opening move. This version offers three board sizes, works with a mouse on desktop and with taps and long-presses on mobile, tracks your time, and saves your best time for each size locally so you always have a record to chase. Clear every safe square to win — reveal a mine and it's game over.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you play Minesweeper?

Reveal squares you believe are safe. Each revealed number tells you how many of the eight surrounding squares contain a mine. Use those numbers to deduce where the mines are, flag them, and reveal every remaining safe square to win.

What do the numbers mean?

A number on a revealed square is the count of mines in the eight squares directly around it. For example, a 2 means exactly two of its neighbors are mines. Comparing numbers with each other is how you work out safe squares.

How do I place a flag on mobile?

Long-press a square to place or remove a flag, or switch the button at the bottom to Flag mode and tap. On a computer you can also right-click a square to flag it.

Is the first click always safe?

Yes. The mines are placed only after your first click, avoiding that square and the ones around it, so your opening move always reveals a safe area and never ends the game instantly.

How is my best time saved?

When you clear a board, your time is compared with your previous best for that size and stored in your browser if it's faster. It stays on your device and is shown when you win, so you always have a target to beat.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

It's completely free and needs no account. The whole game runs in your browser — no installation, no sign-in, and nothing leaves your device.
