Calories Burned Calculator

How many calories an activity burns for your weight

Free Calories Burned Calculator

Estimate the calories an activity burns, based on your weight and time

Pick an activity, enter your weight and how long you did it, and this free calculator estimates how many calories you burned. It uses MET values (metabolic equivalents) from the standard physical-activity compendium, so the numbers reflect the real intensity of each exercise — running burns far more per minute than a gentle walk. You also see the burn rate per 30 minutes and per hour, and a rough equivalent in grams of body fat. This tool is about calories out (expenditure); if you want your daily calorie needs, use our calorie needs tool instead. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are calories burned calculated?

The formula is calories = MET × weight in kg × duration in hours. MET (metabolic equivalent) is a standard intensity value for each activity, so running has a much higher MET than walking.

Why does my weight matter?

Moving a heavier body costs more energy, so calories burned scale with body weight. Enter your weight in kg or lb and the estimate adjusts automatically.

How accurate is it?

It's a solid estimate based on average MET values. Real burn varies with fitness, effort, terrain and individual metabolism, so treat it as a guide rather than an exact figure.

Is this the same as my daily calorie needs?

No. This tool estimates calories burned by a specific activity (calories out). To find how many calories you should eat per day, use a daily calorie / TDEE calculator instead.

Is it free?

Yes — completely free, no sign-up, and it works in your browser on any device.
